Smetana is one of the greatest representatives in the Czech music history. His work is full of the spirit of patriotism. He has committed to the development of the national music culture in all his life, included flourishing the Czech music and set up a monument for the Czech national music. "My Motherland" is a later work of Smetana, and it is also his most representative work. The work owns quite mature and perfect creation and conception, the wider range of subject matter selection, the more profound thoughts and feelings and finally the originality for the development of the symphonic poem genre."My Motherland" is a purely instrumental works with large content and composed of six symphonic poems. This paper is based on the analysis of the Smetana's symphonic poem "My Motherland" on the music text, and explores the "heroic image" shaped in "My Motherland" through the literature analysis and sociological analysis. The paper is divided into three chapters. The first chapter is the basis for generation of "heroic image", which is combined with former social background and the composer's creative experience in order to explore the causes of the composer to create "national hero image" in "My Motherland". The second chapter is to explore the measures how the composer creates the "hero image" in his work, starting from specific analysis the angle of musical features such as musical structure, melody, intensity, orchestration in four symphonic poems include "Vyehrad" "SARKA" "TABOR" and "BLANIK". The third chapter is to discuss the aesthetic value that create by the "heroic image" in this divertimento. It is aimed at elaborating the contribution of Smetana has made in the creation of this divertimento through the source of the "hero" theme, the succession of the "heroic image" connotation as well as the contention and patriotism embodied in "heroic image".
