Study On The Phenomenon Of Irony In MoYan's Novels

The irony in Mo Yan's fiction has drawn extensive attention among academia,of which there are profound and exclusive analyses.Nevertheless,all these analyses,focusing on one certain writing,or solitude as one aspect of Mo Yan study,or being introduced as a case in the irony of Contemporary Literature,seemed insufficient,and further studies are expected,in the underkying cause of Mo Yan's irony,the diachronic characteristic it shows,etc..This article starting with the reading experience,viewing the irony in Mo Yan's fiction as a phenomenon,focusing on the overall synthesis,text analysis,and search for causes,aims at building the connections between Mo Yan,who is subject in the creative work,and his irony.The overviews are as follows:Chapter One is guided by Mo Yan's creation composing course,discovering that the irony in Mo Yan's fiction features in a spiral of escalation.This article divides the irony of Mo Yan as four periods:the early composing period,from imitation to extermalization;the recovering period,from sharp antagonism to moderate opposition;the transitional period,from profoundness to freedom;and the exploring period,formed as "retreat in big strides".Chapter Two analyzed the ironic elements from the internal text of Mo Yan's fiction,on the two layers of rhetorical and situational ironies.For the rhetorical irony,borrowings of political utterance,contradictions and preposterousness,exaggeration and transformation are all the common methods to be used.And for the situational irony,the trails of narrative structure and text parody have pointed to the significance of "distinguishing ture and false".Chapter Three focuses on the ironic conotation hidden behind the text of Mo Yan's fiction,penetrating from the aspects of imago irony and thematic irony.For the imago irony,the separation and reunion between imagoes and peoples have made the deepgoing irony.And for the subject irony,the dispose of "war" and "ego",has reflected the profound perspicacity of Mo Yan.Chapter Four,in the aspect of reading contracts,pointcut in the controversy by plump breast and hip along with joy,has discussed the author's intention,manifested effects,and underlying causes,in order to analyze the inadequacy of Mo Yan's irony.The fifth chapter analyze the cause of irony in Mo Yan's novels through the irony subject.Mo Yan,as a peasant,a soldier,and an author,whose standpoint of creation makes irony complicated.As well,this paper analyses the pen name "Mo Yan",connect Mo Yan in reality,Mo Yan in narration,and the character Mo Yan in the novels,to reveal the relation between the name,the character,and the text.This paper focus on the connotation of irony,from appearance to reality,from in-text to beyond-text,from object to subject,finding different aspects,hoping to make modest contribution to studies of Mo Yan.
