There is no doubt that children exist in each period of human history.But what is the kind of children's existence?How adults treat children and how they should do?That's the prospect of children views.View on children was interpreted different in each different historical course.Now there are many scholars begin to pay attention to the children.In Japan,some researchers have proposed to creat a specialized "pedagogy".However,the researches about views on children mostly focused on the Edo age and the modern time while rarely on Japan's ancient time.In fact,views on children have been enriched in the ancient period.At the same time,diversity views on children was born and generated.They were passed on later generations,had a profound impact on Japanese society.This paper uses literature,historiography and other variety of ancient classic data,it focuses on Japan's Nara period to the remote ages of Hei An as well as Kamakura period to the Middle ages before Edo.With literature analysis and the research ways of inductiving,classifing and comparing,studying the traditional Japanese view on children.This thesis is divided into four chapters.The first chapter discusses the pedagogy,folklore,literature,history,and other fields of Japan's views on children,which were associated in the related research results.And the research significance of this paper.The second chapter discusses the view on children from Nara period to Hei An period.The third chapter discusses the view on children from kamakura period to terrible time before Edo.The fourth chapter discusses the medieval characteristics of Japanese children from European literature data.
