Chinese traditional handicraft is playing an important role in Chinese culture; it is also the treasure of Chinese traditional arts. From the viewpoint of artistic appreciation and cultural-historical development, Chinese traditional handicraft is absolutely indispensable. With the process of industrialization, the inheritance and development of traditional handicraft have been impacted.In this paper, Nantong blue calico is selected to be the delegate of Chinese traditional handicraft, starting from analyzing the value, technique and developments and combining the results of practice, several problems and opportunities of Nantong blue calico are stated. As the religion of Nantong blue calico has putting a brake on its development in other area, shrinking demand becomes the reason why it has been against innovation positivity. Traditional handicraft, as market-oriented industry, it also needs to enlist market pressures to stimulate production to continue the technique. Meanwhile, several cases of the combination of luxury and handicraft, modern products and handicraft are selected to combine the characteristics of Nantong blue calico for further argumentation. In order to respond to market demands, he opinion of Nantong blue calico will be given through crossover marketing strategy. From the point of view, the thinking of traditional handicraft and modern commercial crossover marketing is primed; the development of Chinese traditional handicraft is also provided.
