This paper attempts to explore the relationship between learning motivation and self-identity.It regards English majors in higher vocational colleges as the research subject.Moreover,with the method of questionnaire survey,it analyzes motivation types,self-identity changes and the relationship between them.Prior to this,according to the relevant research of learning motivation and self-identity,it can be found that at present the research on the relationship between them is relatively less.The most prominent is the research on the relationship between non-English-major college students' English learning motivation and their self-identity changes by the professor Gao Yihong.Some existing research is partly related to postgraduates and middle school students,and the higher vocational college students are fewer and fewer.In addition,education on higher vocational colleges is an important part of higher education in China.Based on this situation,this paper launches an investigation.The results show that the main types of learning motivation in higher vocational colleges are information medium and individual development.Even if they themselves are English majors,they also lack intrinsic interest in English.This coincides with the principle “the practical usage is the main priority;the sufficiency is the degree” of the cultivation on students in higher vocational colleges.After learning English,positive self-confidence change is the most obvious and important.Meanwhile,the students' motivation types and their self-identity changes are significantly related.As a result,this study concludes that the main types of English majors in higher vocational colleges and their relation to self-identity changes.On the one hand,teachers in higher vocational colleges can pay more attention to the practicability of teaching content during the course of teaching.According to the students' learning levels,teachers should undertake the personal cultivation to students.On the other hand,students can also lay down their own learning plans according to their own actual situation in order to improve the learning efficiency.What's more,it can help them more clearly plan their career so as to take the path of sustainable development in the career.
