The May Fourth Movement occurred on May 4,1919 in Beijing was a patriotic movement mainly launched by young students and jointly participated by the masses,citizens,and business people in the form of demonstration,petition,strike,violence against the government,etc.It was a thorough anti-imperialist,anti-feudal and patriotic movement in China's modern history.With further study of the May Fourth Movement,scholars deepened the research from single study of the May Fourth Movement to the May Fourth period.There are various definitions of the May Fourth period.This paper indicates that it is more reasonable to define the May Fourth period starting from the New Culture Movement in 1915 and ending by the establishment of the Communist Party in 1921.Meanwhile,the paper analyzes and summarizes the political culture of the May Fourth period.The May Fourth period is an important period of the awakening Chinese nation,and significant historical stage to overthrow the feudal autocratic society,the Western imperialism,and the establishment of socialism.It was of pioneering past and historical significance.Special historical period nourishes a variety of political culture.This article aims at analyzing the characteristics of Chinese political culture during May Fourth period and the enlightenment to Chinese cultural construction of modern politics,in order to benefit the socialism with Chinese characteristics of modern political culture construction and development.The paper demonstrates and analyzes Chinese political culture of the May Fourth period through three aspects: the formation and development of political culture,political and cultural characteristics,political and cultural impact of the May Fourth period.First,formation and development of the May Fourth period political culture.This part analyzes the formation from root causes,political foundation,international factors and social conditions,primarily summarized the reasons for its formation through exploring historical materials.On this basis,the paper made a brief overview of the historical context of its development,and a clear analysis of the development situation of the political culture of the period.Second,political and cultural characteristics of the May Fourth period.This part is the core of this paper which mainly analyzes from the advancement,complexity and limitation.The May Fourth period is a turning point with great significance in the historical development of China,which promotes the rapid and healthy development of Chinese society.Its political culture is bound to have advanced.The core concept of the May Fourth period is salvation,rescuing China in distress,and rescuing people in distress;therefore,patriotism is not only an important
