Research On Household Sacred Space Of Folk Beliefs

The household sacred space is a kind of platform carrying culture and text that reflects social processes. The research on household sacred space of folk belief can visually reveal folk belief's revival and inheriting process through household sacred space.In recent years, with the growing enthusiasm of scholars on the study of the micro space and informal sacred space, the study of the sacred space of family scale is increasing day by day. However, both international and domestic scholars used to focus on the study of religion, Confucianism etiquette, or the multi-belief fusion household sacred space, leaving the study on household sacred space of folk beliefs untouched. Only a few studies take household sacred space of folk beliefs as a "place" or as one aspect of the problem, while it's central theme is not space itself. On the spatial scale, the study on household sacred space of the folk belief has stopped at the micro spatial scale of the family. There are few studies connecting the sacred space of different scales. In the research of the local culture, the problem of the combination of household space construction and deep tradition has not yet been studied.Therefore, from the perspective of geography, this paper takes Lady Linshui as an example, firstly analyzing the internal state of household sacred space of folk beliefs by comprehensive application of depth interviews, participant observation, text analysis, Nvivo8.0 and other methods. It shows that the household sacred space is private and secluded; space itself and the sacredness and dailiness of items in space converts elastically, which makes sacred space deeply embedded in people's daily life. Confidentiality and secrecy prompts the household scared space being one of the faith heritage platform, and the embedding of daily life is performing the belief deeply rooted in families and individuals in order to preserve the heritage resources. Secondly, the paper explores connect between the household sacred space of folk beliefs and external sacred space, the results show that "rooted-Heritage" is the vitality of the folk belief. Household sacred space of folk beliefs and the external sacred space connect through communications, individual and collective activities, and the Lady Linshui belief is rooted within families and individuals when the believers constantly improve the level of faith. What's more, the paper sorts out 12 main constructing paths of the belief growth based on the analysis of the effect of penetration of the sacred space. It believes that, paths of the belief growth of members in a family reflect the constructing paths of the sacred space from different perspectives.The household sacred space can be built not only in different paths, but also in different directions (temple-home or home-home direction). Finally, in the "local" cultural context, we analyzed on how to achieve the local folk belief tradition through the micro geographic mechanism of household sacred space of folk beliefs and find that religious practice of believers is endowed with spatiality. People construct the sacred space in different paths and directions. And they connected the family of this micro scale space and the temple of this small scale space together. Under the big background of "local" and the mechanism, the new household sacred space is constantly being developed, and the core connotation of folk beliefs rooted within the crowd now are rooted in new household sacred space with expanding, updating, inheriting. At the same time, the local belief tradition can be constructed, updated and developed.
