The development of Chinese Buddhism has a long history thousands of years. The main driving force to promote Chinese Buddhism is the monks of past ages. At the turn of the 20th century, as master Taixu put forward the concept of "Humanistic Buddhism", Chinese traditional Buddhism gradually from the mountains and integrated into the city. Since China's reform and opening up, Chinese society has changed rapidly. The connection between Buddhism and society social has become increasingly close; meanwhile the influence of Buddhism in the city has also become more obvious. At the same time, Buddhist followers in the largest, the most widespread lay at the same time in the development of contemporary Buddhism gradually revealed, lay Buddhists, the largest and the most widespread Buddhist believers, gradually emerged in the development of contemporary Buddhism. The appearance of lay Buddhism plays an important role in the existence and development of Buddhism Buddhism resources are especially unique around Xi'an, where Buddhist development have more advantages. In order to adapt to the development of modern urban society and people's spiritual needs, Xi'an district establishes many groups of lay BuddhistsBased on the method of document analysis and field investigation, by studying one of the leading group of lay Buddhists in xi'an. Since the participation of lay Buddhists is in large number, its personnel composition is in wide distribution, the situation is more complex, the groups of lay Buddhists could serve as the contemporary case study of lay Buddhist research. This paper gives a detailed introduction of the constitution of Xian's local lay Buddhists, their daily practice and activities, and their relations with other Buddhist institutions and the obstacles confronted in their development. This paper strives to accurately describes the current development situation of the studied group of lay Buddhists in Xi'an region.
