Theodor W. Adorno's theory of Culture Industry and Art Redemption was a response to a culture predicament resulted from Culture Industry of capitalism. From the position that he wanted to dissolve the culture dilemma and criticize commercialization and standardization of Culture Industry and the function of ideology, Adorno stated that Culture Industry safeguards unhappy real-society, and manipulates the public psychology, thus it hinders the development of the public itself and makes the public lose revolutionary consciousness. He showed that we could use the automaticity and truth of Art to counter commercialization and standardization of Culture Industry and ideology control; the criticism power of Art to deny real society, abolish public despair, rouse public revolutionary consciousness, thereby overcoming and eliminating the state of alienation of Art and individual in the era of monopoly capitalism. The criticism of Culture Industry had one-sidedness:ignoring positive sense of Culture Industry; forgetting the value of science and technology; despising the subjectivity of the public. But learning from Adorno's theory of Culture Industry and Art Redemption, it will provide positive significance to the development of Chinese modern culture and art practice.
