"Dusk" Or "Revival":Research Of Bauman's Postmodern Moral Thoughts

By the shouting of Nietzsche that "the God is dead", it seems that the people are being liberated from the traditional moralities because of the "revaluation of all values". Moral existences are fragmented, values are diversified and conflict with each other. The modernity is dimming in the rebuke, the emergence of the post modernity came quietly accompanied by the query. All the things and rules are facing the "deconstruction and reconstruction",the morality is hidden in obscure corners of the postmodern society. Without morality both the postmodernity and the postmodern society will fall into chaos and strife. Therefore, how to retrieve the morality we have deserted, how to rebuild the ethical system of the human society is a serious question for the postmodern society. Bauman, as a socialist, during the reflection of the lack of morality in the massacres, realized the important position of the ethics in the modernity and postmodern society, he tried to build a thinking system that may really let the morality exist in the society and the normal life. This article aims to find a moral life or a "residence of morality" through the research and analysis of Bauman's moral philosophy.This paper starts from Bauman's research of modernity and postmodernity, and then explain his propose and analysis of moral and ethical questions, and make an evaluation from both positive and negative sides. To be specific, this article is formed by 5 chapters,. Chapter 1:a brief introduction of the background, research situation and research ideas. Chapter 2:relate and analyze of the appearance and situation of the modern society and postmodern society in Bauman's opinion. Chapter 3:Explain Bauman's reflection and critique of the moral and ethical issues. Starts from how Bauman unscrambled the moral dilemma modernity, and then deeply analyze the comprehension of real morality, propose the new reflection of the postmodern moral dilemma. Chapter 4:Bauman's solution of modern and postmodern society moral dilemma, construction of a moral system for the others. Elaborate from the background of appearance and view discussion. Chapter 5:Comment and analysis of Bauman's thoughts, from the negative limitations and the positive enlightenments. Give a summative comment to Bauman's thoughts.Compared with existed researches, this paper may make three possible innovations. Firstly, this paper connects Bauman's thoughts and opinions in views of sociology, ethics, modernity and postmodernity, and then explore the inner connection and core value of his thoughts. Secondly, this paper deeply explored Bauman's thinking system of " for the others", made a detailed comment of his source of thoughts and the significance of building up. Lastly, this paper induces Bauman's thoughts into research of human issues, as philosophical theories corresponding the humanitarian spirit of Marx doctrine, and introduce the enlightenment of Bauman's thoughts through Marx's practical philosophy.
