Metaphorical Strategies In Sigmund Bauman’s Sociological Text Writing

The academic influence brought by Zygmunt Bauman is extensive.He lives in a consumerist world that is constantly flowing and anything solid can easily collapse.He tries to call attention to the anxiety and fear of contemporary people in the globalized world.In the rush times,it has become a huge current of the words of a hundred schools of thought,always with the sensitivity to the personal situation,the typical anxiety of the humanities scholars and the strong humanistic care to observe and understand the world.He constantly tries to use popular narrative methods,unique perspectives,and metaphorical writing styles to explain the situation of various post-modern people.More importantly,he depicts,in the context of the majestic and complicated post-modernity,how human beings are trying to move ahead and weave the future life.Bauman’s metaphor strategy is embodied and permeated in his "fragmented" writing style.His construction of metaphor concepts is systematic,and the core issue of each work has one or several supporting metaphors as the skeleton.When talking about the "modernity experience" of intellectuals,he used "legislator" and "interpreter" to metaphor the change and positioning of his identity;he used words such as "gardening" and "hunting field watcher" to metaphor gardening The social planning in the birth process of gardening and modernization,the process of gradual transformation from wilderness culture to gardening culture,and the metaphor and alienation of waste culture;when talking about the status of postmodern society and the problems of human existence,Bauman introduced " The concept of “fluidity” puts forward two metaphorical identities under the perspective of “fluid modernity”,namely“wanderer” and “sightseeing”,which are used to metaphor things related to contemporary life.Bauman’s Metaphoric strategy always occupies an important position in his writing,and he conveys his thoughts in this way.This article explores the writing practice and utility of metaphor strategies and the "Bauman" style of sociological text writing,in order to attract more people’s attention to Bauman’s literary,aesthetic,and cultural values.Based on the scrutiny and interpretation of Bauman’s sociological text writing,the paper will be divided into four parts with the scope of investigation "Modernity","Post-modernity",and "Mobile Modernity" :The first part starts with Bauman’s core ideas and writing practice,through his eye-catching socialist utopia,to the comparative study of modernity and postmodernity,and then to the investigation and study of postmodernity and fluid modernity in the 1990 s.By rethinking these aspects,his research direction and perspectives will be presented.The second part focuses on Bauman ’ s metaphoric strategy and the logic of postmodern discourse,and analyzes how to fully interpret and construct the characteristics of "modernity" and "postmodernity" in his unique Baumanian writing facing social issues directly with daily concepts.As a master of metaphor,he implants popular expressions and daily aesthetic experience into the text,or puts most of our daily concept systems on the basis of other concepts to be partially understood,making us more intuitively confronted with modern society and other social issues.The third part mainly takes Bauman’s three core metaphors as examples,expounds the significance of metaphor strategies in his sociological text writing,and analyzes and studies the energy,expressiveness and identity brought by common experience that he gives to metaphors.Finally,the thesis concludes that Bauman establishes a certain degree of equivalence and co-occurrence between the ontology and the vehicle,and expresses the tension and vitality of his text creation through the presentation of metaphor strategies and the writing of essays.
