Marlene Dumas is a famous Dutch painter,an influential contemporary female painter,and is recognized as the world famous feminist artist,her painting art boldly manifests sensitive topics of her home country and even the international community,such as politics,racial discrimination,feminism and other major themes.Dumas concerns the issue of eternal human nature through renovating the means of painting in her artistic creation.When facing many problems of realistic society,she often does processing and creation by means of pictures of news and commercial films and televisions to break the media's erosion of people's real experience,to seek the lost soul.Her works go for the heart and are so impressive.Though Dumas' freehand works are not beautiful,they break the conventional way that people appreciate the art,reveal the real,secret life experience and the essence of spirit under the beautiful surface.The painter 's expressive painting language not only directly expresses her artistic thoughts and aesthetic views,but also expresses the charm and interest of the painting art.Paintings of this subject possess a strong impressionism,which is greatly similar to the expression of“the theory of contour”,”the idea of Yun”,“the theory of the image” and other aspects of Chinese impressionistic ink painting.The painter's artistic works of impressionism have a strong theoretical and practical value,which is worth studying and exploring.Art critics call Dumas as “the character who may pioneer the new direction of Figure Ink Painting”,and think Dumas' painting may be influenced by Chinese ink painting.By reading relevant books,investing and studying galleries,watching the relevant video and so on,this paper sums up the imaginary characteristics of Dumas' paintings,compares the similarities and differences of her paintings and Chinese ink painting,and emphasizes the painter's concerns for the survival of human with concise language of impressionistic ink painting.Although there are some similarities between the language of Dumas' ink painting and Chinese ink painting,huge differences are involved in the object and other aspects.Dumas' expressionism painting reflects the contemporary people's spiritual world and the state of existence.She has a direct,thorough and subversive description of the content and object of her paintings.Her expressionism art focuses on the existence of human beings without any prejudice.Many Chinese ink painters have also been deeply influenced by her paintings.I boldly and smartly use comprehensive materials toexplore the diversity of contemporary ink language.The aim is to show the spirit of the characters and convey the thinking of art.Not only are comprehensive materials boldly used in the works,but also painting themes and artistic ideas originate from the Internet,photography and film pictures.Through studying the impressionism of Dumas' paintings,this dissertation attempts to demonstrate the inspiration that from painters pay their attention to local culture and the international community by using ink painting and other painting languages.That is on the basis of the mutual reference,absorption and utility with Western arts and cultures,contemporary Chinese ink artists should explore the innovation and development of Chinese ink painting with a broader perspective,so that contemporary Chinese ink painting can return to the exploration of the essence of art-focus on life,existence,culture and other contemporary society and the spirit of the times.
