Lying referred to deliberately making a false verbal statement with the intent of instilling false beliefs into the mind of the statement's recipient.Studies had found that children from 2,3 year-old began to tell lies and increased with age. After the violation to deny their own bad behavior was the most common behavior of lying, this lying was not acceptable for parents and teachers, they wanted to be able to educate young children about lying behavior and helped them improve bad behavior.Model's influence on children's behavior had been confirmed by many studies, especially for changes in the children's problem behaviors. Some studies had also explored the role of models in story books on the behavior of young children, but the effect is not ideal. Now more and more popular electronic products, children in daily life in contact with a variety of video resources were correspondingly more and more, they often through cartoon to learn and acquire knowledge.Relative to the story book, characters and storyline were more vivid in the video material(cartoon),and more likely to attract the attention of young children. Thus, the present study intended from the video presentation of a model to examine the impact of lying behavior. The present study included three experiments:(1)Experiment 1 was the baseline control group for this study and examined the 3-5 years old children's lying behavior by a temptation resistance paradigm. The results showed that the lying rates of children aged 3-5 was 79.31%,89.19%,93.55% and increased with age.(2)Experiment 2 designed cartoon models(positive models and negative models)for studying the effect of lying to young children by a temptation resistance paradigm. The main results were as follows: under the conditions of positive and negative models,3-year-old children's lying behavior(lying rate)was significantly lower than the baseline level, negative models conditions of 4-year-old children's lying behavior(lying rate)was significantly lower than the baseline level;cartoon models had no effects on the 5-year-old children's lying behavior.Compared to baseline conditions, thus indicating that cartoon models only affects the incidence of lying in young children at lower ages.(3)We used teacher models instead of cartoon models in Experiment 3,results showed that under the conditions of teacher models,3,4,5-year-old children's lying behavior(lying rate)were significantly lower than the baseline level, and suggested that teacher models played a significant role in lying behaviors of children in three age groups. We could draw conclusion that the results of this study showed that video models played a certain role in the lying behaviors of children aged 3-5 years old.
