More and more Chinese language learners are using mobile dictionaries to assist their vocabulary learning.But right now most researches aimed at mobile Chinese dictionaries are limited themselves to the theoretic level,and lack of talking about the real influence and effect of using such dictionaries.Therefore it is necessary to ask for the mobile Chinese dictionaries' influence to language learners concerning their vocabulary.This article took 31 medium-level foreign students come from Thailand,Vietnam,Laos,Indonesia and some other countries as the object of our experiment.The contents of experiment include word properties,word definition,word structures and the pronunciation.With the comparison of the objects' correct rates in their before-test and after-test,including the tests of word properties,word definition,word structures and the pronunciation,we want to discover the real influence that mobile dictionaries contributed to vocabulary learning.Our experiments showed the results as below: the students' average overall correct ratio in the front-test is 63.8%,and in the after-test the ratio turned to be 68.70%.The advantage that using dictionaries reflected from the overall correct ratio is minor than 5%.It seems that using dictionaries do have some positive effects,but not very much.However,when looking the results in detail,we found that dictionaries helped making a bigger difference in understanding word definition and word properties,as the correct ratio of these 2 items are 10.25% and 9.66%respectively.Based on the experiments results,this article partially revealed the relationship among the dictionary-assisted word learning,on-class learning,study strategies and the information input process.At last wewill give some suggestions to teachers and students about getting better teaching or learning results,such as using dictionaries more efficiently,teacher's proper guidance and function update advices to the dictionary application developers.
