First Exploration On American Film Education (1915-1930)

The birth of American movies can be traced back to 1896 and the initial stage lasted for 17 years till 1903.During the period,filming developed from the original static photographic techniques to dynamic visual technology,gradually making itself a good way of presenting arts that was acknowledged and appreciated by viewers.To explore American filming education and to put theory into practice are intertwined with the development of its movie industry.In other words,the American movie industry cannot make such great achievement without the talents,both theorists and activists,who are trained by the filming-related departments under American institutions of higher education.From the birth of the American film,appeared in different development period,the American Film Education in different periods show different characteristics of the course,the paper,combing,summarizes and analysis based English references of American movies in education,finally the research perspective focusing on the Hollywood start-up period(1915-1930).This is because in this special period,the Columbia University,University of Southern California and Harvard University three high school as an example,early American universities began to explore and practice in the course of the cultivation of American film "professional" talent,the earliest film education curriculum preliminary study and research is the Columbia University,began in 1915.This paper attempts from different angles of the three school curriculum curriculum curriculum source,founder,classification,course features in-depth and careful analysis,finally summed up the development of higher education institutions in the context of American film,namely: the "aristocratic" to "civilian" and "theory of reserve" ability to "practice" by "general education" to "professional" education development process.With the continuous adjustment and improvement of the curriculum,has a huge effect on the industry and transport culture of Hollywood talent education,to some extent,also affected the Hollywood production factory pattern;the audience as film appreciation,the aesthetic ability put forward higher requirements on the curriculum of American film education and exploration.Bring a positive role in promoting,early American movies and movies in Institutions of higher education are closely related.
