Zhang Weiping,one of “the Canton East Three Poets”,was a famous poet,litterateur in modern China.He was born in Qianlong period and was died in Xianfeng period and indited a large number of poems which was wide spread and had a lot of influence in Lingnan.In the early years,he maintained the “True Emotion”poetic style.During his sunset years,he developed a new style called “Dao Xian Shi Feng” and reached a basis for the modern transformation of Lingnan's poem.His life was divided into period what “Fighting for the imperial examination”,“Being an official”,“Resignation and seclusion”.He made a great achievement on the literature when he retired though he was frustrated and nearly nothing been done during his official career.He created a rich and extraordinary work,Guo Chao Shi Ren Zheng Lue,was a biography,a critical essays and a anthology.It was the most representative literary work of Zhang Weiping,had unique feature and was full of innovativeness.Moreover,in the aspect of ancient literature,calligraphy and painting,medicine,education,he almost dedicated himself and made a great contributions to society.In addition,Zhang Weiping's a series of thoughs including self-restraining in privacy,learning and study,feminism,native materialism,patriotism were extremely meaningful and had a deep influence to the Lingnan society.Zhang Weiping's written works reflected the new style and new trends in literatus from Qianlong period to Xianfeng period.According to Zhang Weiping's works,social contributions,study method,spirit and thought,not only can we summarize the mental change and thought characteristic in a typical Lingnan litterateur,but discover the ideological change and development of the orthodox Chinese intellectual around the First Opium War.
