The Ming Dynasty was an important period for the prosperity and development of Chinese bibliography.There were the two most important national catalogue books in the Ming Dynasty,the Wenyuange Bibliography compiled by Yang Shiqi in the 6th year of the reign of the Zhengtong Emperor(1441)and the Cabinet Library Catalogue compiled by Sun Nengchuan,Zhang Xuan and others in the 33 th year of the reign of the Wanli Emperor(1605)in the Ming Dynasty.They not only played an important role in the development of bibliography in the Ming Dynasty,but also played a very important role in the whole history of the development of bibliography.To some extent,two books not only broke the rules,but also made innovations.In terms of directory classification,the Wenyuange Bibliography broke the four—branch classification of the traditional methods,and creatded a new classification of “Thousand Character Classic”,and the cabinet library catalogue created the eighteen—branch classification on the basis of the Wenyuange Bibliography.In the content structure,the Wenyuange Bibliography 's content description was very simple,which had no preface or jieti.The Wenyuange Bibliography destroyed fine tradition of writing preface or jieti when wrote bibligraphy before the Ming Dynasty.And the Wenyuange Bibliography opened a bad atmosphere in the Ming Dynasty,which was simple description.So did the cabinet library catalogue.But the cabinet library catalogue was slightly better than the Wenyuange Bibliography,because it was written some simple jieti in some entries.Therefore,the Wenyuange Bibliography and the cabinet library catalogue played in the history of the development of bibliography in the meaning of.In addition,as affected by the Wenyuange Bibliography,the cabinet library catalogue had both inheritance and development.There were some similarities and differences in the nature,classification and collection scope,etc.So they had some comparative value.
