The Nanchang Han Dynasty Haihunhou Historic Site,of which the Poyang Lake lies to the north,is located in Tiehe Village and Datangping Village,Xinjian District,Nanchang City.The whole site consists of the Tomb of Haihunhou,the Zijin City and the area of tombs of nobility and common people.Capital of Haihunhou which is represented by the Zijin City and the burial area which is represented by the Nanchang Han Dynasty Haihunhou Tomb is a historic site of a principality in Han Dynasty.This historic site is the biggest,the best protected,the most meaningful one that was ever discovered in China.It is assigned as the national emphasis cultural relic unit and caused wide attention in society.Till the year 2016 when the main coffin was lifted into the lab,the archaeological excavation of the Haihunhou Tomb lasts for more than five years since the year 2011 when archaeologists first investigated the site,and it will go on.To show the achievements and explain the cultural connotation of the Haihunhou Tomb to the public,the Government and archaeologists working in and out of the archaeological sites launched a series of public activities,including live TV program,series of lectures,academic conferences,press conferences,phased exhibition,books of Haihunhou archaeological excavation,professional TV programs and so on,which makes the public much closer to them.This paper starts with explanation of “ Public Archaeology” and analysis of development of public archaeology in China,made a conclusion of patterns of public archaeology of archaeological excavation before,Chapter two and chapter three discuss the basic conditions and the patterns of Haihunhou Tomb's public archaeology activities.Based on the analysis on the above-mentioned problems,the last chapter proposes new thinking of the overall designing of Haihunhou Historic Site and the follow-up public activities.
