With the rapid development of cultural industry,the export to overseas market of Chinese film and television culture product is becoming a hot spot.The international communication of the film and television can not only enhance the economic benefits,expand the industrial scale,but also to export local cultural ideas and values successfully.In consideration of the differences in languages,customs and values between different cultures,export to overseas market of Chinese film and television culture product is facing low audience acceptance,the damage of products' value and so on.It's called "Cultural Discount".As a result,how to reduce the "Cultural Discount" is the focus of improving the effectiveness of overseas spreading.Single works may success on the content,but it can't promote the whole industry.The study need to be based on the perspective of industry and analyze every aspects of the industrial chain instead of content to explore how the factors affect "Cultural Discount" and condensed in the presentation of the work.Over the years,China's film and television products have been affected by cultural discounts.The existing research focuses on film and television industry,through the analysis of operational processes to explore cultural discounts.This paper takes the documentary as the object of study.Documentary is an important cultural carrier in the process of overseas spreading.Then the author chose ten documentary companies and take depth interviewing to master the institutions of overseas market expansion and representative works.And then from the view of industrial point,the author explored how the economy of scope,the industrial chain and the industrial policies influence the"Cultural Discount" and the whole process of documentary "going global".The study found that the domestic documentary industry has not really formed.The single form of production,low degree of marketization reduce the desire to go overseas market.The various links and the policies have gradually increased the"Cultural Discount".The author makes some related suggestions.To open overseas markets,Chinese documentary needs to form the economies of scope,improve the capacity of docking overseas and increase the degree of industrial policy fit.Only by the industry mature,can the Chinese documentary achieve "speak Chinese story well,spread the sound of China effectively”.
