The Analects of Confucius Taibo: "A man's words are good when death is near." When someone's life will be exhausted, generous love seems to be determined by human nature.“Action is better than eloquence ".It seems like smarter, someone do something then follow words. However, when people will die, whether his behavior is also like his words and comply with the good norm? In other words, does mortality salience(MS,also known as death reminder)encourage people do more pro-social behavior? Whether people ‘s behavior affected by the type of people who need help? In the past, terror management theory(TMT)generally demonstrated the behavior of individual from the perspective of social destructive behavior, ignoring the constructive behavior that emerged after death thinking.Foreign researchers have been concerned about reminds of mortality intensify the desire to express culturally prescribed prosocial attitudes and engage in culturally prescribed prosocial behaviors, and only a few articles in our country simply talked about this theme. From the perspective of positive terror management theory, this research attempt to examine whether people have generated pro-social behavior whey they are reminded of death? And whether out-groups and ingroup affect people's pro-social behavior when they are reminded of death? Moreover, this research devoted to demonstrate Focus Theory of Normative Conduct and Terror Management Theory's interactive impact on pro-social behavior.Based on our country's background to carry out this research.Participates in this experiment were recruited on the campus of the Jiangxi Normal University. All participates completed the questionnaire in a classroom. This research wants to examine how mortality salience affect people's pro-social behavior. In study 1,166 participates were randomly selected to examine following MS whether people have generated pro-social behavior and to examine whether different types of seekers affect the participates 's pro-social behavior. In study 2,70 participates were randomly selected, following MS,combined with focus theory of normative conduct to test whether people will give more money to out-group members and in-group members. The results are as following:1.No matter dentist-visit primed or mortality salience, participates gave more money to the in-group and donated less money to out-group.2.compared with dentist-visit primed,MS had significantly differences in the prosocial behavior of different types of helpers.Participate reacted more favorably toward in-group and reacted more negatively toward out-group.3.Following MS,no significantly the amount of money was found for those who received the prosocial norm primed, participates increased willingness to help outgroup and in-group,eliminated the increase in negative attitudes towards out-group.4.Following MS,compared with the neutral condition, activation of prosocial increased significantly willingness to out-group and in-group.Participates donated more money to other people.5.Reminded of death, under the neutral primed, participates had significant differences in the prosocial behavior of different types of helpers. They responded especially generously toward in-group but decreased donation toward out-group.
