Reliable Of Oriental Face:a Study On Eye Movement In Cross-cultural

According to previous studies,evaluation of face trustworthiness is an automatic processing method,and the individual is more sensitive to the unreliable face when evaluating of face trustworthiness.The main factors which influence the evaluation of face trustworthiness are face features,personality traits and social background.Research on face feature about evaluation of face trustworthiness focused on Western Caucasians,but with the deepening and development of globalization,exchanges and cooperation between various groups is increasing,we communicate with people come from different races,whether the people is trust or not,which is directly related to the follow-up about cooperation and development.In this background,we want to know that Western subjects and Chinese subjects in evaluation of face trustworthiness about the east face,what kind of face is reliable in the east face?Based on this research background,we focus on the following two questions:(1)which characteristics influence of the eastern and Western subjects in evaluation of face trustworthiness on oriental faces?(2)the differences between eastern and Western subjects in the process of identifying credible,neutral and unreliable oriental faces?This study includes two experiments,Chinese and Western Caucasian(white people)as subjects,used the behavior of the experimental measurement and eye tracking technology to explore:The experiment one through a "recognition-judgment" paradigm,the Eastern and Western subjects were asked to evaluate the neutral face pictures which randomly generated,and then correlation and regression analysis according to the final results,and know the result about the face feature which the two groups evaluate of face trustworthiness on oriental faces.Experiment two used 2(Group: Chinese / Caucasian)* 3(type of face: credible/ neutral / unreliable)* 5(area of interest: nose / eyes / mouth / forehead / cheek)mixed experimental design to explore the attention processing mode about the Western subjects and Chinese subjects in evaluated the credible,neutral and unreliable about the oriental faces are different or not.Based on the two experiments,the following conclusions show that:The results of behavioral experiments show that:(1)two groups of subjects in the evaluation of face trustworthiness about the characteristics of face are different.The results of eye-movement experiment showed that:(1)the fixation model about two groups in the evaluation of face trustworthiness are different,Chinese's fixation point mainly at the middle area of the face,about the nose to the eyes of the face,while foreigner's showing a inverted triangle pattern,the focus is mainly concentrated in the eyes,mouth and nose,visual area is relatively dispersed;(2)through the analysis about the location of first fixation found that,in the eye area,the subjects fell on the untrustworthy faces of the eye gaze points are greater than trustworthy face;(3)through the analysis of the eye-movement data about the eye movement index,the results showed that the fixation model of two subjects are different..
