Ku Hung-Ming is a legendary figure in the Modern intellectual history. He is one of the first Chinese who was educated in the West, and he attempted to re-evaluate Chinese culture with the world civilization by his distinctive theory about applying western thoughts into the study of Chinese traditional culture. He experienced the drastic social change movement from the late Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China, but he had always been a defender of traditional ideas, and he criticized the various disadvantages of modern society during every change.Through the comparison between Chinese and Western cultures,he recognized the noble spirit of Chinese traditional culture, thus he expected the awakening of traditional spirit in modern China. He also translated some Chinese classics and introduced them to the West. The works he had translated caused a huge sensation in Europe,it allowed him to contact some of the world's top thinkers and to talk to these people about the cultural fate of mankind.Ku Hung-Ming's theory has always been considered to be an uncompleted system.People usually admit that some of his ideas are very thoughtful, but no one has ever evaluated his theory objectively. The main idea of this paper is to investigate the logical thought in his religious confucianism.and to further study his metaphysics, political philosophy and ethics. In order to disclose the true nature of his thoughts,we value his theory from the field of vision of "Chinese and Western argument ".
