Realistic paintings focus on objective description of real life,and are closely related to the normal life.Realistic works are often able to reflect the real social outlook,which emphasize the expression of objective reality and people's emotion,with positive energy of admiring life.Based on these reasons,realistic subjects is one of the Western and Chinese artists' favoritepainting styles.These artistsconvey "truth,goodness,beauty and spiritual values' ' through painting the objective things in life.Chinese and Western realistic paintings not only have some similar" common "but also have some different" personality ".This article respectively selects two typical realism painter Miller and Xin Dongwang from Western and Chinese painting style.The article compares and studies their historical backgrounds,and the similarities and differences between the style of painting,calling for more artists to pay attention to real life,and show the beauty of real life.In the first chapter,this article elaborates the creation and developmentof Chinese and Western realistic theme paintings,and concludes the basic framework of Western realistic painting.Then in the second chapter,through artists Miller and XinDongwang's representative works,the article works on the comparison of thesimilarities and differences of viewfinding,image,color,shading,texture strokes and emotional meaning.Although the two artists are different from nation,politics,economy,and cultural era,they invariably chose realism as their painting theme,and brought a strong shock to your heart.In the third chapter discusses the similarities of the two painters' painting style.Their works are the true reproduction of the farmers' lives,and the works are to convey the artist's humane care for the workers.The last chapter of this paper briefly describes the influence of Miller and Xin Dongwang painting stylesonmy writing practice and Chinese realistic painting.Through the research and study of the two Masters,I want to make myself more improved.
