Research On Li Jianchen’s Colour Painting Works

Mr Li Jianchen is known as the “Father of Chinese Watercolor Painting” who made outstanding contributions to the development of watercolor painting in China.He is also a brilliant art educator,cultivating many famous artists.His watercolor works featured with national language have influenced Chinese watercolor painting.Chinese watercolor painting which vigorously develops has become an important part of the world painting.In the process of the development of Chinese watercolor painting,Li Jianchen has played a key role.Li Jianchen has explored watercolor techniques,such as dry painting,wet painting and stippling which are used by watercolor painters today.Watercolour Techniques and Watercolor Creation Techniques written by him fill the blank of Chinese watercolor painting theory,influencing generations of watercolor painters.Li Jianchen was elected honorary president of Chinese Watercolor Painting Association for his extremely high attainments of watercolor art.Besides,he contributed to “The First National Watercolor Painting Exhibition” in 1986 and the exhibition has been successfully held for eleven sessions,becoming a big event in Chinese fine arts world.Li Jianchen witnessed the hundred-year development of Chinese watercolor.His rigorous academic attitude and national responsibility are worthy of inheriting and carrying forward.This paper explores the development course of Chinese watercolor painting and the future development direction to look for inspiration in watercolor painting through the study of Li Jianchen’s art experience and the analysis of the watercolor painting works.
