Analysis Of Peter Chan’s Art Style

Peter Chan,a famous Hong Kong director who plays an important status in the history of Chinese movie.Since 1991,his first movie Alan&Eric Between Hello&Goodbye debut,14 films directed by him and won various prizes.He follows the commercial rules of the film market and tries his best to make the film market and artistic creation perfectly combined.He guaranties every box office sells well and makes each of them present Peter’s distinctive art style.His director experience and the mo-vie features make a special art style.It is one of the most important characterizations of Chinese film culture and even to influence the development of Chinese film culture.Therefore,to study systematically on the formation and development of Peter’s art style,also the value and the significance is very important to present theory of film creation and inspiration.This paper combined some books and video about Peter’s interview.Choose the 14 films as research object,based on the content and text analysis,from three main factors:creation theme,narrative method and audio-visual language to measure a director’s art style.Review on Peter’s art style synthetically and analyze the causes for his style systematically.Further discuss the value and meaning of him to provide useful inspiration for contemporary film creation.Specifically,this paper consists of five parts.Introduction section contains summary of the research question,research review,research ideas and methodology,as well as on the basis of the significance of this study.The first chapter explains author’s idea on the definition of“director’s art style”.And then explain the basis for Peter’s art style and the three leading factors of his style.In the next four chapters of this thesis measured from directing art style of the three factors.Seize the form and content in Peter’s movie.The reason is that the formation and the development of performance make Peter’s art style to the final show.The fifth chapter from the overall perspective of Peter’s art style to analyze and think.The research for.director’s art style of the three factors of characteristic has close inner link.And this connection and factors,also the value is the main content of this paper.Finally,in the conclusion part,the author confirmed that nowadays commercial film is very popular,but Peter can fully integrate in its implication and directed mix with his own art style.It is also very worth for people learning and reference.In general,in this article,through the study of Peter’s art style,strive to improve and enrich the theory study of Peter and the study of Chinese director art style.Through the introduction to the development strategy of Peter,especially under the specific era and the development of times,how to Peter in the creative process of art fusion and the performance of a full range of research and how to personal ideological implication and art creation into the commercial movies today,which has a strong practical significance.
