Kazuo Ishiguro is a famous contemporary novelist of United Kingdom,he is very good at digging people complex inner world.Kazuo Ishiguro likes recollecting,he takes memory as a look at the life of the filter.But in his novels,the memory became the most unreliable existence,because every attempt to remember the story of the heroine mind are burdened with trauma.This paper selected its six novels A Pale View of Hills,An Artist of the Floating World,The Remains of the Day,The Unconsoled,When We Were Orphans and Never Let Me Go as the objects of study,with memory as a clue to explore the common theme of these six works-trauma,thinking about how this theme enlight contemporary peopleThe main body of this paper is divided into three aspects:The first chapter explores the external characterization of trauma and the causes of the trauma of the subject.Memory is a clue that always traversed through all Kazuo Ishiguro's works,and in which way dose the memory related to trauma events being record by victim is the key to the existence of trauma.Memory mechanism is destroyed,the wounded individual can not complete the memory of all the experience,out of fear,shame and other reasons,while they present the story,there will be a variety of extreme ways.The second chapter explores how the wounded individuals are self-healing in the wounded world.The reason why the wounded individuals being different from ordinary people to show there memories,is that they are split into two ego,one part follow the track of life to move forward,the other part is fixed in the trauma experience.If the trauma subjects want to get rid of the pain,they must integrate a complete self,the only way is to resume past,face up to history,and tell themselves to experiences out.The third chapter discusses the purpose and the result of self-treatment of trauma subjects.Wounded individuals placed themselves in a split state for a long time,they walk back and forth in the past and the reality,and ultimately they will only be swallowed in the past,push themselves into the destruction.Through a series of self-treatment,the trauma subjects can completely abandon the trauma,integrated into the moment,and in the end find the way of self-existence in the real world.The ultimate goal of this paper is to excavate the meaning of the traumatic theme in the works of Kazuo Ishiguro in the real life,find out what kind of inspiration and way out he gave to the people in the modern predicament.
