The Jewelry Of Implicit Culture The Metaphors And The Inner Mind In Jewelry Design

The Chinese hermits are a group of unique people with distinctive characteristics mostly derived from being isolated from outside world.The public view such group with different views or critics,however what interests the author are their unique state of nature and personalities.Therefore,observing and learning from hermits,explorations about nature and society have been implemented into the author's designs.This thesis has looked into the habits of hermits,the culture of Wei-Jin dynasty,traditional Chinese landscaping paintings and other related materials,in order to extract the concept of implicit culture.Further to characterize such culture,and to analyze its art forms in different disciplines,such as art design,jewelry and materials,genetic composition,life preservation and so forth.Afterwards it establishes the connection between the implicit culture and living in current society.Based on culture discussion,this thesis further categorised and analysed characteristics of solitary jewelry designs.As one of the medias in implicit culture,jewelry designs,including its elements,themes as well as design methods have been comprehensively presented and systematically analysed.Most of these analyses have been based on the investigation of both theoretical and practical knowledge researched.Solitary jewelry not only implements unique and interesting materials and textures to develop,they also expresses a type of attitude within modern living.Types of solitary designs were gathered and a survey has also been conducted to gather information about the public opinions and knowledge about jewelry in this area.Moreover,a relationship between solitary designs and Buddhism "zen" has also been investigated and established.Art works from different locations and artists are gathered for comparison,in order to analyse the different background and expression behind each type of design,as well as to look into a state of meditation while creating these art works.On the other hand,this article identified the differences between solitary jewelry and other commercialised designs,pointing out the uniqueness about this type of design and the importance of it in current modernised society,thus some problems behind designing jewelry these days have been reviewed.At last,from current state of such implicit culture,several issues have been raised about current living in modern society as well as the future of jewelry design industry.This thesis aims to employee such unique topic and designs,to illustrate the importance and development of solitary jewelry in modern industry with the author's own art works.
