AACSB International is the world's non-governmental accreditation authority of business schools and accounting programs.AACSB International Accounting Accreditation Handbook is one of a series of handbooks which include all aspects of AACSB Accounting Accreditation Process.It focuses on providing information for higher learning institutions of business which have the intention to apply for the accreditation.Thus the translation of this handbook is crucial to ensure an smooth accreditation process.Entrusted by the accreditation office in school of management from Tianjin University,the translator accomplishes the translation of the AACSB International Accounting Accreditation Handbook.Based on the translation practice,this report comes into being.As an informative handbook,AACSB International Accounting Accreditation Handbook belongs to a practical information-oriented text.With rigorous,objective and concise language,this Handbook consists of many proper nouns,abbreviations and conventional words with special meanings.And most of its sentences are imperative sentences,parallel balance structure as well as long and complex sentences.According to Adaptation Theory,the use of language is a dynamic process of mutual adaptation between the context and linguistic structures.During the process of translating,it is crucial for the translator to know well about the context and the textual characteristics of the Handbook.From the perspectives of contextual adaptation and linguistic structure adaptation,this report aims at selecting the best translation strategies by seeking for optimal corresponding items of words and sentences based on the concrete context,applying cohesive methods flexibly and adapting to requirements from different parts.This report mainly includes four chapters.The first chapter describes the translation task which includes the introduction of the background and the source and requirements of the task.The second chapter depicts the translation process including preparation,translating practice and edition.The third chapter is the case study which illustrates the guiding significance of adaption theory on the translation practice from the perspectives of contextual correlates of adaptability and structural objects of adaptability.The last chapter summarizes the existing problems and provides enlightenment for the translation of other accreditation materials.Based on the Adaption Theory,this report summarizes problems during translating and relevant translation strategies.Meanwhile,the accumulation of large amount of translation experience from this practice will provide guidance for the translation of subsequent materials related to accreditation.
