Translation Report On The Compile Of Father Brown

Recently,with economic and social development,cultural exchanges between China and the world have deepened,and many high-quality foreign literary works have been introduced into China.During this process,literary translation is of vital significance.High quality literary translation plays an important role in the cultural exchange between Chinese and foreign countries as a bridge for Chinese readers to obtain more knowledge and learn more about other cultures.Project Gutenberg of Yeeyan is a “collaborative translation project” and aims to translate books in the public domain.This report discusses the translation of The Compile of Father Brown.Guided by the theory of Receptional Aesthetic the task was to accumulate literary translation experience,improve the reporter’s translation skills,and explore the strategies of literary translation.By analyzing the process of translation,the report discusses the difficulties and problems encountered in the translation process in order to achieve the best translation and meet the expectations of readers.The report is divided into four chapters: “Description of the Translation Task”,“Description of the Translation Process”,“Case Analysis” and “Summary”.By using translation strategies that correspond with reader’s horizon of expectation,this paper can be used as a reference in similar literary translations in the future.
