Research Of Willa Cather's Ecological Thoughts Under The View Of Taoist Aesthetics

Among various studies on Willa Cather,the interpretation of Cather's works from the angle of Ecological Criticism stands out.As a person who cares about ecological problems,Willa Cather's works reveal natural ecological beauty,spiritual ecology and social ecology,which have a lot of similarities with Chinese Lao Tzu and Chuang Tzu's ecological aesthetic thoughts.This thesis intends to summarize Willa Cather's ecological aesthetic thoughts based on the texts of O Pioneers!,My Antonia and The Professor's House,and is especially focused on the comparison between Willa Cather's and Taoist ecological thoughts.On the one hand,this study is beneficial to the interaction between Chinese and Western cultures,helpful to strengthen the excavation and research of national ecological aesthetic wisdom,and is expected to enlighten the reconstruction of contemporary Chinese ecological aesthetic thoughts.On the other hand,this study also has some innovative significance,given that the comparison between Willa Cather and Chinese Taoism from the perspective of ecological aesthetics is not so common in domestic academic circles.The preface of the thesis will introduce Willa Cather and her works briefly,the objective of this study,also the research results that are related will be involved.The First chapter is mainly focused on the background of ecological aesthetics,the connection between Taoist thougts and modern ecological aesthetics and general analysis of Willa Cather's ecological thoughts.The second chapter centers on detailed description of the ecological thoughts in Willa Cather's three novels by analyzing the relationship between man and nature,man and man,man and society,and so on.The third chapter analyzes Cather's ecological thoughts from the perspective of Taoist ecological philosophy.The ending is a further summary and generalization of the content of this thesis.
