The Study Of Calligraphy Theory Of Kang Youwei

Based on the calligraphy theory of Kang Youwei as the research object,by showing Kang's journey,era characteristics and creative features to in-depth research with the calligraphy theory.Kang Youwei was born in an education family with "the neo-confucianism family heirloom",the benefit of the influence of the Confucian classics at an early age.When he was unsuccessful with full of political ideal and political enthusiasm,so he devoted his focus to the study of Confucian classics and epigraphy,and created a book “guang yi zhou shuang ji”,it caused a greatly influence in the calligraphy field.Although this book was produced in the failure of the political reform and Kang's hopes dashed,but it was Kang's combined product of the evolutionary thoughts and calligraphy thoughts,integrating the old and new Chinese and western thoughts.The thesis is divided into three parts.The first part is the introduction.Mainly describes the significance of the topic of this paper,the research status at home and abroad,the research objectives and methods.The second part is the main part of the thesis,it has four chapters.The first chapter mainly analyzes the Kang's history background of calligraphy theory.In the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republican period,Due to the eastward transmission of western science and the tablet-calligraphy study flourish,meanwhile he was affected by the traditional culture and the new study of Confucian classics,and the edification of the family educational background,so he ultimately created a book "gang yi zhou shuang ji",it was the representative works of Kang's calligraphy theories;The second chapter discusses the characteristic of Kang's calligraphy theories.Through to discuss the development of Chinese characters and the changes of calligraphy styles,respecting Stele-calligraphy study and depreciating Traditional-calligraphy study,respecting Wei Dynasty and depreciating Tang Dynasty,the practice claims of brushwork from thebook "guang yi zhou shuang ji”,thus it had an in-depth study to his calligraphy aesthetic thought and the change of calligraphy thoughts at the old age;The third chapter mainly according to Kang's calligraphy practice to consider his calligraphy theories.It made a preliminary exploration with the artistic characteristics of Kang's character and the aesthetic pursuit of Kang's calligraphy practice.The fourth chapter mainly discusses the influences and the contributions of Kang's calligraphy theories.Analysis that his students inherited the theory of stele-calligraphy study,as well as he contributed to the modern calligraphy and calligraphy esthetics.The third part is the conclusion.It is an objective evaluation of Kang Youwei in the calligraphy history.Kang Youwei's calligraphy theory is a peak of calligraphy art at a particular time.This thesis not only studied his calligraphy theory value from the aspects of social history,more through the cultural history and intellectual history to discuss the nation values and the times values of his calligraphy theory.
