Review the past 20 th century,there is a person who the one of the most important composers in the history of music in one hundred years.He created successively the free atonal and twelve pitches cause profound change in the 20 th.That person is Schoenberg(1874-1951),the "Father of Modern Music".His bold innovation spirit and serialization of thinking affects the whole of the 20 th century until today.The period of expressionist was a time when music and visual arts(painting,stage,lighting,etc.)got close to each other.The interaction and fusion of music and visual arts make Schoenberg carved out own music empire.Therefore,in the category of relationship between music and visual arts seems particularly significance.For understanding the writing background,aesthetic connotation and style characteristics are of great importance.In 1908-1923,it represents the works of Schoenberg in "free atonal",especially the most typical “Drama with Music”—The Lucky Hand"(Die Gluckliche Hand).This dissertation comprises five parts as follows: A preface is concerned about the statement of the topical meaning;Chapter One is contact from the "audio-visual art at the beginning of the 20 th century's new thought”,Chapter Two is "audio-visual art relationship of interdisciplinary discussion" Chapter Three analysis the “study on the cross and fusion of Schoenberg's expressionist music and visual arts ".The last part is The Conclusion,it is a summary of the relationship between the expressionist music of Schoenberg and visual arts and the positive significance of interaction in the development of art.
