It is very meaningful to study the accepted history of the Myth of Sisyphus in mainland China.Because the Myth of Sisyphus is the most immediate and most centralized work for Nobel Prize winner Albert Camus to expresses his "absurd philosophy".And not only the Myth of Sisyphus is the most systematic and biggest absurd philosophy in the 20 th century in western. But also the accepted history of it is the history of reception of Existentialism in miniature in mainland China. From 1947 the French expert Wu Da Yuan firstly published the brief introduction about the Myth of Sisyphus so far,the author sort out the translations and the related papers and monographs about the Myth of Sisyphus to analyze. Moreover according to the change of cultural characteristics and the process of academic research in recent 70 years.Roughly the study is divided into four stages.1940 to 1980 was the initial period of acceptance, after the first introduction in 1947,research was in the blank in whole50 s.In the decade of the Cultural Revolution, the only two articles also stood in the position of the proletariat, with a completely negative attitude towards Camus and the Myth of Sisyphus.Along with a strong political complexion. After the reform and openness, the translation of the Myth of Sisyphus was really carried out from the section of the translation, the whole translation to the separate edition.Except few critics, most researchers think the central idea of the Myth of Sisyphus is positive.Furthermore part of the Myth of Sisyphus was incorporated into the "theory of literature and art",and “absurd” was regarded a kind of aesthetical styles. In a word during this period, all aspects of research began gradually, but the depth is not enough. The 1990 s is the evolution period. The translations were mainly reprinted of 80 s.Scholars enriched research ideas which appeared in late 80 s and study from the perspective of philosophy, aesthetics, ethics and literature, especially focus on interpretations of existentialism.Camus' s conclusion of "Sisyphus is Happiness" also attracted theattention of many researchers.Because it inspires the generation who facing spiritual crisis after the Cultural Revolution with destruction of traditional value system and has a great time significance.Followed this was interpreting other works or persons with the image of Sisyphus and the theory about absurd and resistance. In all,the research of this period are more and more in-depth,academic and specialized,at the same time, the Sisyphus bookstore appeared on the market and spread the foundation of acceptance. The first decade of the 20 th century, the translation with pictures appeared to take readers' fancy, the Myth of Sisyphus was incorporated into Senior Chinese Reader and College Chinese Reading with further expansion of impact. What's more a lot of master theses, doctoral theses and monographs appears and took on an air of prosperity. However this period of research approach and research ideas did not go beyond the previous range,or even just were a simple repetition of the previous view.2010 so far, just a few years eight publishers retranslate and reprint the new translation of the Myth of Sisyphus up to 15 kinds, related monographs are much more than past.besides there are two research reports of reception history on Camus. It shows that the scholars pay attention to the classic text and reflect on the study of Camus and the Myth of Sisyphus in the past, which is a sign of maturity stage of study.Presenting the process of the reception of the Myth of Sisyphus in detail in mainland China can help us to see how it is excluded, absorbed, transformed, how it influences our ideologies and what kind of theoretical resources did the Myth of Sisyphus provide for our literary theory(including aesthetic theory),literary criticism, and literary creation.
