A Contrastive Study Of Verbal Classifiers In Contemporary Chinese And Thai

Compared with the researches about nominal classifier,there are less researches about verbal classifiers at the moment.In fact,verbal classifiers have their own characteristics and complexities.Both Chinese and Thai language are belong to the Sino-Tibetan language and the two both have commons and differences in all respects.There is no exception inverbal classifiers in the two languages.This paper uses the comparative analysis method to compare the Chinese and Thai verbal,descripting and analyzing their type,semantic feature,the combination rule with other components and grammar function.Main research contents of the paper are as follow:(1)From the perspective of dynamic state and static state combination,Chinese and Thai verbal classifiers could classified into two categories,and then compared the two categories of the two languages.On the basis of the classification,analysis the semantic features of Chinese and Thai language guided by semantic feature theory,and compare the semantic features of the two languages.(2)On the basis of the semantic features of the two languages,analysis and explain the combination rules of verbal classifier with verbs or with numerals in the two languages,then compare the combination rules between the two languages.(3)Compare Chinese and Thai verbal classifier phase grammar function,explain and describe the similarities and differences of two languages grammar function in verbal classifier phase.Through my research,I hope the Connections and differences between Chinese verbal classifiers and Thai verbal classifiers can be further understanded by Chinese teaching in Thailand.
