The core concept of courses is the "Big Ideas",which refers to the common character of different things.It's also the central knowledge which kept in mind after internalization even if leaving all details of knowledge behind.Moreover,it is the conclusion or inference on the basis of common knowledge.It derives from several learning experiences including researches,discussions and verification etc.The essence of the "Big Ideas" in musical course lies on learning this subject so as to search for the common connections of things related to music.After that,learners could not only grasp the concept and value that finding nature through the surface phenomena,but also develop their key competence.This paper makes preliminary reviews and expectations on the relevant studies home and abroad of the "Big Idea"and the "Reverse Design".The researches of didactics in China is relatively few and incomprehensive,though the concepts and models in foreign countries owning the history of nearly twenty years.Moreover,teaching research of the "Big Idea" in the music courses sinks into a blank state.Under this circumstance,the didactic of the"Big Idea" is combined with musical education in this paper,using the pedagogical model of the "Reverse Design",doing both theoretical and practical researches,and making probe into enhancing the influence of musical subject in education.This paper is divided into five chapters.The first chapter is introduction,which explaining the researching background,target,significance and the status home and abroad.The second chapter is about theories,mainly the UBD theory with the "Big Idea" and "Reverse Design" included.The third chapter is about the application of these theories,figuring out the common deficiency in the instructional design,the significance of the "Big Idea" in musical courses.Moreover,the concrete steps of carrying out the "Reverse musical teaching design based on the 'Big Idea'" would be summed up in this part.The fourth chapter is related with the teaching practice.The"Reverse musical teaching design based on the 'Big Idea'" would be unified with the musical teaching in China so as to applying practically.After some researching methods,the effects of this mode in musical teaching can be examined.The instructional design,questionnaire,observation in class,after-class interviews are involved in the reaching process.The fifth chapter is about discussions and analysis of the researching results.Finally the limitations and shortcoming would be pointed out.
