Translation is cross-language transformation of information, and how to deal with the cultural information in the translation practice is a big problem for translators. There is no doubt about the differences among different languages,so cultural loss is unavoidable in translation, and translators need to adopt various compensation methods.Ma Hongjun put forward his own macro opinion on the types of compensation methods:explicit compensation implicit compensation. This translation project is selected from the first part of Thomas Moore's Utopia, totaling about fifteen thousand words.Because that the western cultural images are very rich in the original text,in the process of translation, the author applied Ma Hongjun's explicit compensation and implicate compensation strategy to avoid cultural loss. The former includes footnotes and commentary in the text, while the latter includes addition, domestication, interpretation and so on.Through the concrete analysis of translation examples, this paper discusses how to use different compensation methods to make the target readers have the same reading experience as the source language readers.
