| Antonio Vivaldi and Peter Lynch Tchaikovsky are two representatives during Baroque and Romanticism period,whose works are deeply appreciated and loved by music lovers.Comparing the concerto grosso Four Seasons of Vivaldi with that of Tchaikovsky’s piano album,this thesis conducts a research on the program music of two different genres of the same theme.Furthermore,it compares the musical form,harmony,mode layout and development and changes in music of the two Four Seasons respectively.This paper also artistically analyzes the two works in term of poetry,emotion and artistic mood.Evidently,Vivaldi and Tchaikovsky are able to stand for the majority of composers in Baroque and Romanticism period and their works are program music.Consequently,this thesis analyzes differences in attitudes towards music and differences in emotion reflection ways.In the meanwhile,it explores different expression in poetry,emotion and artistic mood of Four Seasons,which probes into different reflection genres of the same theme in different times from artistic angle.To explore the reflection in two genres of Four Seasons in poetry,emotion and artistic mood,the author analyses them and concludes the research opinions from the following viewpoints.First,in terms of poetry,Vivaldi and Tchaikovsky compose their compositions on the theme Four Seasons.More exactly,the former writesSonnet according to pictures he’s describing,which has much relation to foreign language poems,and the later creates his works by poetry.In order to make appreciations and players represent and explain their works,the author relates the two Four Seasons to Chinese poets,the relation between Four Season of Vivaldi and poetry of Wang Wei in Tang Dynasty,and Tchaikovsky’s Four Seasons and Gu Cheng.What’s more,this thesis illustrates the importance and necessity of developing this relationship.Second,in terms of emotion,the Author analyses two works with the same theme but different genres in order to highlight different expression ways and describing ways of different composers.That is to say,this thesis clearly expands different ways and habits of musical expression of Vivaldi and Tchaikovsky.Third,in terms of artistic mood,the author explains what is program music and the reasons for using it and introduces different genres and musical styles of two Four Seasons.What’s more,as the two composers both describe vivid natural pictures of stream smurmuring,birds signing,and flowers blooming,hot summer days,autumn harvest days,hunters hunting and snowflakes whirling,etc,the author list them out and simulate natural life embedded in music.Finally,the author analyzes and concludes the artistic mood of two composers to expound different moods they want to express and to highlight the reasons for different moods.This thesis can be divided into three chapters.Section one of the first chapter illustrates artistic mood of Four Seasons and introduces lifetime and creation background of Vivaldi and Tchaikovsky.Section two expounds the relationship between Four Seasons and poems;in other words,it analyzes the links between foreign language poetry and Four Seasons,and the relationship between Chinese poetry and Four Seasons.Chapter two analyzes the similarities and differences in the emotional expression of these two Four Seasons.Chapter three makes full analyzes about the artistic mood of them,including their music genre and features,different simulation ways towards natural life and different artistic conception reflected from two Four Seasons. |
