This paper focuses on the dynamics of music.It includes the expressive significance and structural functions of dynamics.The development of music history witnessed the rise of the influence of dynamics.Throughout the study of characteristics,patterns,marks and application of dynamics,as well as the analysis of commonality and individuality of dynamics' influence on the expression and structure of works from different styles and different times,we can find that as the expressive significance of dynamics becomes stronger,the structural functions of dynamics usually,even universally increase as well.The role of dynamics changed fundamentally especially since 20 th century.It changed from a single music expression method to the overall control of works.It changed from a dependent role to the leading role controlling the development of style of music.All those changes indicate that dynamics already becomes the essential element of music composition.It even has the potential to become more diverse and developed in future.
