| Voice pitch,an important clue to the gene quality of male and an important criterion for mate selection,plays an important role in the study on female preference.It is found that women's preference for masculine voice is not static,but affected by many factors,among which the menstrual phase manifesting gestating ability and the mating context of relationship selection are quite important that cannot be ignored.However,the correlational researches from the perspective of non-western culture are deficient.Therefore,the effects of women's menstrual phase and mating context on the pitch preference is discussed in this study.This study consists of two experiments.In the first one,the effects of menstrual phase and mating context on the voice pitch are probed through the subjective evaluation paradigm.Considering that it may be influenced by other factors,such as social culture,the second one will adopt dichotic listening and point director paradigm in combination to investigate women's preference for masculine voice influenced by menstrual phase and mating context from a more objective perspective of attentional bias.The results of this study are as follows:(1)Women have preference for low masculine voice no matter in the measurement modes of subjective evaluation or attentional bias,and their mating context and menstrual phase are significant factors influencing their voice preference.(2)The two variables,mating context and menstrual phase can not only affect women's voice preference independently,but also can accumulate the effect of the two variables.(3)No matter in subjective evaluation or attention bias,menstrual phase and mating context all will affect women's preference to masculine pitch.Compared with that in the short-term relationship,women's preference to the men with low pitch are higher under the background of long-term relationship,and the mating context effect is greatest when women are in the menstrual phase of high risk pregnancy. |
