Research Of The Image Of The Great Wall In The Present-History Of CCTV Documentary

The Great Wall,which was used to defending the invasion of northern nomadic tribes.It's a massive military project built and maintained by several dynasties at different times in Chinese history.The Great Wall like a loong lying in the winding line of the East China,which is the symbol of the Chinese nation.After two thousand years,the Great Wall is still standing.In December 1987,the Great Wall was listed as world cultural heritage.The Great Wall is left behind with a profound historical imprint of China's historic sites.It's the cohesion of the ancient Chinese wisdom and diligence;in addition,it witnessed the history of civilization of the Chinese nation.The Great Wall has been deeply into the destiny of China.Harold Lasswell proposed the “5W” mode,which is one of the classic theories in communication area,attached importance to “Says What” of the content research area.That makes me realized that “Says What” via image in visible mass media is a significant point of image communication.With the help of visible media,the research of the representation and communication of image belongs to the content of mass media,which is subject to the research field of Media Culture.In 1979,the Central Newsreel and documentary film studio shot a documentary “The Great Wall”.From then on,CCTV has constantly paid attention to the Great Wall.And has shot 12 documentaries about the Great Wall,such as “The Great Wall “Odyssey of the Great Wall ”“Inside and Outside of the Great Wall” “The Great Wall: the story of China ”and so on.Among them,the audience's rating of the “Odyssey of the Great Wall” reached up to 40%,which created a myth of an audience rating in the television documentary history.Why CCTV always has been paying so much attention to the Great Wall and took it as a theme of the documentary? What are the emotions and ideas of the Great Wall images in different time periods? What is the complex relationship between the expression of the symbol of the Great Wall and the expression of the ideology in CCTV documentary?In my thesis,I will use literature research,case studies and text analysis methods to explore the above issues.The first chapter of my thesis is the introduction,which focuses on the backgrounds,significances,research methods and related literature review.The second chapter to the fifth chapter divided the Great Wall images into four stages according to different characteristics showed in the CCTV documentary.I used the text analysis methods to analyze the different images of the Great Wall and its different features in the four stages,which are based on different time backgrounds and the concept of the documentary film.The sixth chapter is the conclusion of this paper.This research indicated that the documentary is like a country album,which recorded people's mental state and the pulse of the time.The image of the Great Wall has certain practical significance in the documentary.Using “the Great Wall” as the theme of a documentary is very significant for national identity construction,and also very important to stimulate people's patriotic feelings.At the same time,the spirit of the Great Wall shows the efforts of building up this country.It can also pass on the culture confidence of China.Most importantly,it is a Totem of “Chinese dream”.
