The Theoretical Difference And School Orientation On The View Of Heaven And Humanof Mencius And Xunzi

As the core problem of the ancient Chinese philosophy thoughts,the relationship between man and nature had become one of the focuses of the controversy in the Pre-Qin period.As the two representatives of Pre-Qin Confucianism after Confucius,Mencius and Xunzi both formed their own strict and complete discussion systems on the relationship between man and nature.This paper takes the occurrence logic of Confucian concept of heaven and man as the starting point,comparing and analyzing the commonness and characteristics of the concepts about the heaven and man of Mencius and Xunzi from the academic context.Therefore,we can clearly distinguish the theoretical differences and the concept orientation.This paper is divided into five chapters.The first chapter,tofigure out the origin of the Pre-Qin Confucian concept of heaven and man,we aim at clarifying the connotation and extension of "heaven" and "human" in the theory of " heaven and human relations" in ancient China.At the same time,we also make a systematic analysis of "heaven and man relations" in three dynasties.The second chapter,through researching the internal logic of Confucius' view of man and heaven,we mainly explore the inheritance and transcendence of Confucius' concepts of the three generations;this paper discusses the connotation and essence of the theory system of " unity of benevolence and propriety",which was constructed by Confucius;we also analyzes the transformation of Confucius' understanding for the relationship between manandheaven from "outward demand to inward transcendence" in his later years.The third chapter,Mencius' s connection and interpretation of Confucian concept of man and heaven.Through analyzing the theoretical thread of Mencius view of heaven and man,we focus on the docking process of the connection to Confucius theory;we try to explain the construction process of Mencius theory of "the harmony between man and heaven".The fourth chapter,Xunzi'scutting and integration of Confucian concept of man and heaven.By combing the theoretical thread of Xunzi's concept of heaven and man,we mainly discuss the cutting and reconstruction of the theory of "harmony between man and heaven",and the theory constructed by Zisi-Mencius School;we also discuss the correspondence between Xunzi's concept of the division of heaven and man,and the concepts of Huang Lao School.In the conclusion part,with a comprehensive comparison of Mencius theory of "The harmony between man and nature" and Xunzi's concept of "The division between man and heaven",we conclude the connection and difference between them,so as to define the theoretical differences and school orientation of Mencius and Xunzi.
