A Research On Theory About Heaven And Man Of Mencius

The relationship between heaven and man is the primary issue of Chinese Philosophy, the discussion about this issue could be found easily in the long history of Chinese Philosophy development. As a master of the Pre-Qin Confucianism, Mencius got a unique perspective in the relationship between heaven and man, his theory influence on the posterity deeply. Mencius learned from the disciple of Tzu Szu and he had a dream to pursue the remains theory from Confucius, so the theory proposed by him about heaven and man are almost originate from Confucian classics and Confucius theory. Besides, as Mencius traveled around the different principalities, he absorbed from other masters with various thoughts during the process that he criticize them, thus his perspectives in the heaven and man are affected by the Taoism and Mohist. As the result, Mencius inherited and improved the thought about Heavenly Way and Human Nature from Confucius, his theory had elaborated the unique concept of nature and man. In the theory about heaven and man of Mencius, heaven could not explained by our word, it surpass the ideology of man and is the pre-existing. Mencius considered that man could recover the nature sights follow Heavenly Way and seek oneness of man and heaven voluntarily. The connotation of his theory is that man could go forward to the heaven from themselves, the gap of man and heaven would disappear gradually, and finally reach the oneness of man and heaven. As the ultimate purpose of Mencius, the thought about oneness of man and heaven exist all over the philosophy system, it is related to some important concepts of philosophy category such as mind and life, it is also related to many important thoughts of philosophy such as view of nature, human goodness, kindness politics. Perspective of Mencius about how to treat and understand the world depends on his theory about heaven and man. In this paper, the thought about oneness of man and heaven of Mencius is divided into three different aspects contains nature heaven, lord heaven and morality heaven. The philosophy system is analyzed through the respective of theory from Mencius and based on thought of the oneness of man and heaven, a new perspective proposed in this paper would be offered to others.
