This report is a summary of the translation of A Cold War Turning Point: Nixon and China,1969-1972(Chapter 1 and Chapter 2).It aims to describe the problems that the translator encountered and summarize methods adopted to solve them.The report consists of four parts,which are task description,process description,case analysis and summary.The first part mainly focuses on the main content of the translated material,the information of the author and the content of A Cold War Turning Point: Nixon and China,1969-1972.The second part is a summary of the translation process,stating the preparation for the translation,the modification and the difficulties encountered in the process.The third part,which is the core of the report,mainly analyzes the difficulties in the translation of words and syntactic structures by giving specific examples,presents the techniques and the methods adopted in those examples.The fourth part summarizes what the translator has learned from the translation and provides reference to the future translation practice.Through this translation practice,the translator not only practices and improves his own translation ability,but also recognizes his deficiencies in the field of translation.The summary of the whole translation process will help the translator for the future translation practice.
