The study of memory still is a hot issue in psychology and psychologist always take attention on it.As a part of memory,working-memory is also a important topic.In the process of the research on working-memory,some researchers have found that even participants were reminded to ignore background sounds,the irrelevant-sound still has a passive effection on working-memory in a cognitive task.This is irrelevant-sound effect.On the basis of existing of research results,this study was made for further verify findings.And explore the effect of irrelevant-sound on working-memory in the condition of highlighting.The result of the study as follow:(1)When the experimental materials is English letters,the irrelevant-sound effect was not found in working-memory about the order information.But there is a dictinct impairment in highlighting when subjects completed the memory of item-context.(2)When the experimental materials is high-frequency Chinese,the irrelevant-sound effect was not only found in order information memory,but also in the memory of item-context.(3)The irrelevant-sound effect is not significant difference between highlighting and single background color.
