After 1944,along with the development of the victory of the world anti-fascist war,as one of the important parts of the world anti-fascist war,the final victory of the China's anti-Japanese war has become an irreversible fact.At that time, the focus of all parties in China was gradually shifted from “resisting foreign aggression” to “peace-building”,so the question of “what kind of country should be established after the war in China” became the main problem facing Chinese society. On this issue, the Kuomintang and the Communist Party have successively put forward their own propositions: the Kuomintang was still wanted to adhere to its one-party dictatorship after the war;the Communist Party proposed to establish a new democratic coalition government. As the main body of the third largest political power after the Kuomintang and the Communist Party, relying on the China Democratic League as the main organization and taking a number of democratic publications as a platform, the intellectuals had a series of discussions to express their opinions about postwar China issues. The article is divided into three major parts to study the discussions about postwar China issues among intellectuals on the eve of the victory of the anti-Japanese war:The first part mainly analyzes the international and domestic background of the discussions about postwar China issues among intellectuals. From the international point of view, the discussions about postwar China issues among intellectuals are mainly affected by the United States and its policy towards China; From the perspective of domestic,on the one hand,it is mainly due to the two major parties have successively put forward their own nation-building programs and cannot be fully agreed to by the intellectuals; On the other hand,it also lies in the intellectuals' own strength has been further developed in the late stage of the anti-Japanese war.The second part is based on the comments about the postwar China issues published on the different publications by the intellectuals, which summed up the intellectuals' main points about postwar political, military and economic issues and their basic attitude towards the nation-building programs of the Kuomintang and the Communist Party. In the third part,on the basis of the first two parts, the author further reveals the essence of the discussions about postwar China issues among intellectuals from the political, military and economic aspects – to establish a bourgeois republic in China. And then through a profound analysis of its progress and limitations, the article reveals the final historical destiny of the bourgeois republic program.
