Study On Anna Karenina-based On Freud's Psychoanalytic Aesthetic Theory

Leo Tolstoy is one of the greatest writers in the 1800s.Besides the unrest society at that time,his writings also revealed his life-long exploration of spirit.Tolstoy's spirit exploration emphasizes inward world,analyzing all the questions he has thought about in different stages of his life.Though living in the adjacent centuries,Freud and Tolstoy lived in different countries and concentrated in different academic fields.However,they did share something same in exploring the human's inner world.The similarities can be clearly seen in Tolstoy's character-building,Freud's literary theory and especially the insight of unconsciousness.As one of the most influential aesthetics schools in the 1900s,psychoanalytic aesthetics has had a far-reaching influence on western modem literature.Starting from Freud's psychoanalytic aesthetics;,the thesis will probe into the characters in Tolstoy's Anna Karenina,on the basis of dream theory,Libido theory and personality structure theory.First,the thesis will try to find out the inner psychological motivation in Anna Karenina by analyzing the connection between Dream Theory and writing motivation.Based on the dream in the book,the thesis will study the deep metaphor in the dreams of Vronsky and Anna.Discussion will also be made on the changing process of libido on the three main characters,which helps invoke thinking on life meaning.In the end,Anna and Karenin will be taken as objects to do personality analysis,revealing the function of Id,Ego and Superego in the life.The method of psychoanalysis of triple personality analyzes the human mental activity model from the depth of human nature.This method has greatly influenced the shaping of characters in literary works and provided a new perspective for readers' understanding and literary evaluation.It also makes the characters more vivid and closer to the true nature of the people.Early at the formation stage,Freud's psychoanalytic aesthetics has aroused great influence.The thesis is helpful in enriching the study of Tolstoy's works by analyzing the psychological problems in his works with Freud's psychological aesthetics point.The thesis aims at further exploring the deep connotation and aesthetic value in Tolstoy's works from the point of Psychoanalytic aesthetics theory.Efforts will also be made to emphasize the indispensable function of Psychoanalytic aesthetic theory in writing and character building.Moreover,based on literature works,Freud's theory can be more vivid of practical significance.
