“Fupuxiantan” is a type of traditional Chinese novel,which was finished in Late Qing Dynasty.The author is Ouyang Juyuan.It uses the structure of stories collection and through the story of a number of people involved in a wide range of people to reflect the official and social darkness which happened in the special period.The content of the novels of "fupuxiantan" reflects the significance of the new and old times,so that it has certain literary orientation.On one hand,the novel inherited the traditional condemnation of the novel to expose the darkness of the late Qing court.On the other hand,it exposes and satirizes the fake reform party false speculation and the moral degeneration of the world,which is getting worse day by day.At the same time,it also describes the new changes of urban culture and society in the new era,and reflects the social life of the late Qing Dynasty.“Fupuxiantan” is an unfinished novel that has thirty chapters and it was first serialized in “Xiuxiang stories”.Within the 100 years,“Fupuxiantan” hasn't been researched specially.Generally it was discussed with the "Picture of Officialdom",or was only mentioned in the study of city culture of late Qing Dynasty.This thesis will try to combine the existing research results to introduce the author.At the same time,it will also discuss the ideological content and artistic value of the novel,in order to have a better understanding of the ideological value and artistic value of the novel.
