Research On The Language Of Subtext Subtitle In TV Reality Show

In recent years,the TV reality show as a kind of entertainment program has become the new favorite of the majority of TV viewers,all kinds of TV reality show’s ratings are rising steadily and the program influence can not be overlooked.Meanwhile,the subtext subtitle is widely used in the TV reality show,it is mainly because it meets the features of TV reality show,like documentary and openness.Therefore,the development of subtext subtitle also gradually matured.Subtext subtitle is a new type of subtitle,through the picture,text,expression,punctuation and so on,to match the screen effect.It not only has the function of traditional subtitles,such as conveying information,expressing feelings,but also has some new functions,like explaining content,increasing humor,resonating and so on.So TV reality show and subtext subtitles complement and promote each other,grabbing people’s extensive attention recently.At present,the study of the reality show and subtext subtitles is mostly from the perspective of news and media.Therefore,this article based on the linguistic point of view and selected a popular reality show《Running Man》as a represent,summing up more than seventy thousand of words as corpus,and mainly analyzed the characteristics and laws of the subtitle language in the reality subtitles in terms of punctuation,speech,vocabulary,grammar,rhetoric and pragmatics.Through the research and analysis,it is found that the subtitle language of the reality show is subtly characterized by humor,fashion and simplicity,which meets the requirements and positioning of the program.Specifically,regarding to punctuation,it often uses the question mark,ellipses and exclamation points,and there are a lot of variations of punctuation.As for the phonetic features of subtext subtitle,using rhyme、reduplicated words and partial tone is the main aspects which should be noticed.In terms of vocabulary,idiom、onomatopoetic words and buzzwords are quite common in subtext subtitle.When it comes to the grammar,it is characterized by the extensive use of single sentences、inverted sentences and omitted sentences,likewise,questions and exclamatory sentences are also widely used.Besides,the phenomenon of grammatical variation makes the subtitle language changeable and novelty.It also use a wide range of rhetoric,like metaphor、personification、hyperbole、irony、antithesis、parallelism、and pun.In addition to that,due to the clever use of memetics、relevance theory and politeness principle,subtext subtitles produce a very good entertainment effect,to strengthen the language of humor.As a new type of subtitle,the language of subtext subtitle has the theoretical and practical significance of study.Through the analysis of the internal and pragmatic aspects of the language,this paper aims to find the laws of subtitle language,enrich the content of language research,give new vitality to linguistics study.
