The Impact Of Gender Difference Of Translators' Subjectivity On Humor Translation

Translation is a complicated language transformation action,involving so many elements like the original work,translator and readers.For a long time,based on the frequently used translation rules,loyalty to the original or readers' response had been the main points of evaluating whether a translation is successful or not.However,due attention had not been paid to translator,the most important element in this complicated and creative action,translator's creativity and translator's subjective initiative."Pragmatic turn" and "cultural turn" happened in western countries in the 1970s,opened up a new perspective in the translation field.Research on translator's subjectivity in China also began in 1990s.Scholars such as Xie Tianzhen,Yuan li,Zha Mingjian started to study and have done some research on the translator's subjectivity and creativity and their functions in literary translation.There are a lot of Chinese versions of Pride and Prejudice.From the perspective of translator's gender,this thesis selects Zhang Jinghao's version and Zhang Lin,Zhang Yang' s version and try to figure out what's the difference between the two versions and what's the outstanding characteristics especially the humor translation under the effect of subjective element-gender.The thesis is divided into five parts.A simple introduction to the research purpose,significance and methods will be given in the first part.Chapter two is literature review which gives a basic narration about Zhang Jinghao's Chinese version and Zhang Ling,Zhang Yang's Chinese version and the profiles of two translators and the relevant research.Chapter three discusses translator's subjectivity.Chapter four elaborates the humorous language and analyzes the difference and the characteristics in the two versions by different gender translators.The last part is the Conclusion.
