The Taoist school is one of the most important among hundred schools of thought during the Warring States period in China. The essences of Taoism include the thought of the simple dialectics, the epistemology of mysticism, relativism, agnosticism and ecological ideology, thereinto, the Taoist ecological ideology is the highlight. The fundamental of the ontology of Taoist ecological ideology stems from "Tao".The analysis of the ontology is based on "Tao" and carried on in three aspects of the Taoist cosmology, generative theory and conception of nature. The Taoist cosmology is established in the global to wake up to the vastness and constant motion of the universe and the galaxy as well as the law of celestial bodies motion.Taoist school proposed that all things on earth originated from ‘Tao' and that all things were generated by ‘Tao'.The Taoist conception of nature is mainly reflected in two aspects, one is ‘Tao models itself after nature',and another is "man is an integral part of nature".The Taoist conception of nature embodies the symbiosis and co-prosperity between human beings and nature, and that nature, human beings and all things are equal and unified. The Taoist view of life is full of natural caring and integrates life and nature into one.The process-oriented view, subject view of life and holistic view of life included in Taoist view of life have profound ecological significance. The process-oriented view of life can be come down to the view of life and death.Life and death constitute the complete process of being, and it is deemed in Taoism that human beings are born to die, just like the natural running of the seasonal cycle. The Taoist subject view of life suggests that each individual life in nature is a subject and equality and harmony exist between heaven and man, between matter and me and between nature and human. The subject view of life also advocates respect and care for life. The Taoist school regarded heaven, earth and man as an entirety, and proposed to be kind to everything in nature with equal view and awed attitude, which is a reflection of the holistic view of life.Taoist ecological ideology has abundant and profound ecological value in dealing with the relationship between man and nature. The Taoist school proposed the ecological value view of "No distinction of the noble and the humble among the matter, all being created equal".Such value view suggested that, all things in the universe have their own independent, irreplaceable intrinsic value as well as equal value. The Taoist school pursued the value view of "integration of Tao and technology" and deemed that true production and creation should not be confined to individual,one-sided things, but should revert to nature. The Taoist school had a sense of hardship in techniques, that is,the use of machine will make people mentally unstable, which showed Taoism's deep introspection on technology alienation.
